Australian Expats: stories from abroad
Editors: Bryan Havenhand and Anne MacGregor
The first ever collection of stories chronicling the personal journeys of Australian expats is a joint project between Global Exchange and the Southern Cross Group. Australians all over the world were invited to 'tell their story' and they did, with enough to fill several books.
The Southern Cross Group is an international volunteer non-profit advocacy and support organisation for the Australian diaspora. The Group lobbies to reduce some of the legal, administrative and economic barriers faced by those living away from 'home'.
International Careers for Australians
by Bryan Havenhand and Victoria Heywood
The purpose of this book is to show that, with the right mix of qualifications, experience and perseverance, you too can be on your way. Not surprisingly, the greatest number of Australians are found in the UK but they can be found in every country on earth.
There are three main sections in this book. In the first you'll find an overview of the movement of Australians overseas, some key questions as to whether it's for you, and some assistance in sorting out the paperwork when you're ready to move. The second provides some starting points, suggestions and contacts for finding wok, while the third is serious (and much underrated) advice about getting prepared and settling in with a minimum of fuss.
